  • Deodorant: Offers long-lasting odor protection with natural ingredients.
  • Face Moisturizer: Hydrates and soothes the skin after sweating.
  • Lip Balm: Provides essential moisture and protection for lips.
  • Body Lotion: Lightweight and hydrating to replenish moisture loss after exercise.

The Lululemon Selfcare line is currently available online at lululemon.com and in select Lululemon stores. It’s also available at select studio partners in North America and on Sephora.com, expanding Lululemon’s reach to a wider audience.

Where did lululemon get its name?

The name Lululemon’s origin story is a bit unusual.

Chip Wilson, the founder of Lululemon, has said that the name doesn’t actually have a specific meaning.

There are two main reasons why he chose the name Lululemon:

  1. Appeal to Japanese consumers: Wilson noticed that Japanese consumers were drawn to brand names with the letter “L” because the “L” sound is not common in Japanese phonetics. By including multiple Ls, he aimed to create a name that sounded Western and appealing to this target audience.

  2. Catchy and easy to remember: While the name itself has no meaning, it’s catchy and memorable due to the repetition of the letter “L”.

In later interviews, Wilson has also acknowledged that he found the difficulty Japanese speakers had pronouncing the name to be “funny.” This aspect of the story has been criticized for being insensitive.

So, to summarize:

  • The name Lululemon has no specific meaning.
  • It was chosen to sound Western and appealing to Japanese consumers.
  • It’s catchy and easy to remember.

The Future of Lululemon Selfcare

The launch of Lululemon Selfcare marks a significant step for the brand, venturing into the competitive skincare market. With a focus on athlete-centric needs and clean formulations, Lululemon positions itself to potentially capture a loyal following within the activewear and wellness communities. Whether Lululemon Selfcare expands its product line in the future remains to be seen, but this initial launch signifies the brand’s commitment to providing holistic wellness solutions for its customers.
